The use of non-invasive methods in cultural heritage management has helped us in our mission to find, study, protect and manage archaeological sites in Vestfold and Telemark fylkeskommune. But tools such as the georadar are complex and need to be thoroughly understood in order to yield the best results possible.
VEMOP is a three-year project run by Vestfold and Telemark County Council, the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research. It investigates how environmental factors such as varying soil moisture and different soil and sediment types do influence the contrast in ground penetrating radar data.
